========= === == ==========
Welcome to the University of Georgia's artificial intelligence FTP archive.
You are invited to download our files and distribute them freely to others.
We distribute only our own files and a few files from other sources that
are of special interest. Files are grouped in the following directories:
ai.natural.language -- Natural language processing programs
ai.nlp.book -- Programs from the book _NLP for Prolog Programmers_
ai.pc.utilities -- IBM PC utilities and editors
ai.phonetic.fonts -- Timothy Montler's phonetic fonts for Laserjet II
ai.prolog -- Prolog programs and Prolog interpreters
ai.prolog.book -- Programs from the book _Prolog Programming in Depth_
ai.prolog.standard -- Draft proposed ISO Prolog standard, March 1993
ai.reports -- Research reports from the University of Georgia
ai.misc -- Other programs (mostly for UNIX)
ai.unix.utilities -- Useful utilities and shell scripts for UNIX
Each directory has a file named "Contents" (not "contents"!)
describing what is in it.
FILE FORMATS
Caution! All .tar, .Z, .exe, and .zip files require BINARY file transfer
when they are transferred to a non-UNIX system!
- If using FTP, issue the command "binary".
- If using Kermit, say "set file type binary" on both machines.
.tar -- UNIX tape archive. Unpack using "tar -xvf filename.tar".
.Z -- Compressed UNIX file. Uncompress using "uncompress filename.Z".
.zip -- IBM PC compressed file; unzip using PKUNZIP.EXE (available here).
.exe -- IBM PC executable.
.hqx -- Macintosh binhex file; de-binhex with Stuffit, BinHex, or DeHQX.
Many UNIX files have names ending in .tar.Z; uncompress and then tar -xvf.
CONTRIBUTIONS
Send email to mcovingt@ai.uga.edu if you wish to contribute a file
to our library. We are interested only in files closely relevant to
our own work (mostly logic programming, expert systems, neural networks,
and natural language processing).
IT[Θ ALL FREE
All of our software is distributed FREE OF CHARGE. Except for PKUNZIP,
we do not distribute shareware that requests payments to the author.
If you are unable to obtain our software by FTP, we can supply some
of it (programs originating at Georgia only) on IBM PC diskettes for
$15 per diskette.
COMMENTS AND QUESTIONS
Please direct inquiries to mcovingt@ai.uga.edu.
